The situation in Malawi
Malawi is located in the southeast African region, sharing its borders with Mozambique to the South, Zambia to the West and Tanzania to the North. It’s a small country, compared to other African countries. Malawi is also known as the “warm heart of Africa”, and accurately so. Malawi’s people are jovial, welcoming and peaceful, making you feel entirely welcome and at ease in their lovely country. Like in many developing countries, most public schools in Malawi are in a sorry state. This is evidenced by the dilapidated infrastructure and the deplorable learning conditions. Most school-going children lack basic needs including reading and writing materials. This is a major reason why children lack the motivation to go back to school. Retaining children in schools in Malawi is a major challenge.

We have very good news! Thanks to the participants of the National Post code Lottery in The Netherlands, the cooperation between Edukans and Correctbook received a fantastic donation of 1.550.000 euro to spend on a sustainable and innovative primary education programme in Africa. Ambassadors Nick & Simon, a famous musical duo, surprised director of Edukans, Ron Rijnbende, with this cheque during the Post code Lottery neighborhood party last Wednesday.
This means we can now officially introduce to you a new cooperation between Correctbook, Edukans and BlueTree Group. Together we aim to approach primary education in Africa in a new and sustainable way. Our programme is called Correctbook Active Teaching and Learning and combines the educational expertise of Edukans with the sustainable Correctbook writing materials. Blue Tree Group makes this all possible by bringing in their expertise on all the necessary logistic processes in Africa to produce and spread the needed products.
The fact that the Post code lottery supports this new concept is very meaningfull and says a lot about the potential of this programme. This financial contribution is the start of this unique project to improve education in Ethiopia, Malawi, Kenya, Uganda and Ghana. Within the programme, 400.000 primary school children in these countries will receive a Correctbook with the Correctbook pens and ink.

My name is Sam van Tol and I am the founder of Correctbook. In this blog, I will explain 5 reasons why I started my social business. Social entrepreneurship is an upcoming form of entrepreneurship and I truly believe it will takeover this decennia of entrepreneurship. To get better understanding what social entrepreneurship actually is: social entrepreneurs solve a social problem using a commercial business model. But why I am so fascinated about this?

Social impact could be drastically increased using a business model
Earning money by doing good is considered wrong for a long time, which is ridiculous. A charity, using all their money for the greater good, is dependent on donations and gifts. People do not like to give money, because they get nothing in return. Social entrepreneurs use the powerful force behind commerce, a business model, to solve a social problem. People buy products and services, which will

We are happy to announce our latest initiative 'Development with Correctbook' via an ad in the One World magazine. This initiative stimulates the accessibility of our products to everyone who is committed to development aid.
Current situation
In the current situation, we give our donations, in Correctbooks, to charities Kwasa and Rhiza. We focus on the slums in South Africa with two fixed trusted parties. This works excellent, because we can focus on one environment and build close ties with the locals. We acquire more and more knowledge about the environment and adjust to it. We believe that every en environment needs a different approach. Therefore, we launch our latest initiatieve 'Development with Correctbook'. Together with all kind of charities we can increase our impact against worldwide illiteracy. Still 250

Correctbook is not initially started with a donation model and we will never change that. However, many people asked us if they could donate Correctbook directly to children in need. Therefore, we partnered up with charity Kwasa to increase impact. You can donate a reusable notebook to a child in need for 4 euro's. The happiness of children writing and drawing is the best feeling for us.

Good news! We decided our new developing project: Akani Foundation. Together with charities Rhiza and Kwasa. Akanti is a, by origine, nursery/elementary school in the slum 'Diepsloot' in South Africa. Charity Rhiza boosted the foundation with qualitative education and more. For example, Rhiza started the 'Mobile Clinic'. A vehicle providing health/dental care and advice in the region. Akani has 650 children with limited access to schoolmaterials. Correctbook is going to change this problem. Every child gets a Correctbook.
